Christine Porter Marsh

Scottsdale, Arizona

My favorite thing about teaching is watching the lights go on in students’ eyes, watching them getting passionate about traditionally boring things like reading and writing well. This is why I keep coming back. I am in my 24th year of teaching in the same high school from which I graduated, and I still feel like it’s the best job in the world.

In addition to teaching English to Juniors and Seniors, I am the mother of two sons, a runner, a daughter, a friend, and an active member of my church community. I am also involved in local politics and in making sure that my colleagues and I use our voices to elicit productive changes and to foster what’s already working in the world of education.
