Inequalities within education… Every child in this country deserves quality teachers and quality education no matter what the property taxes might be where he or she lives. The story above is interesting and disheartening… Maybe the government should be looking at what the real crime is; our education system is not equal or fair. Quality teaching and good schools should not be something people should have to lie or take drastic measure to try and get. Every school in this country should be a place of discovery, learning, exploration and a haven for all children. Quality teaching needs to be defined and lets face it… Its time to invest in teachers and good teaching. Lets fix this, FINALLY. As a parent, what would you do to ensure your child received the best education? Does the punishment in this situation really fit the crime? What is the REAL crime anyway…?

I teach fourth grade in the greater west valley of Phoenix. I am not one of those who have known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be a teacher. My parents aren't in education so I couldn't follow their footsteps. I don’t even remember many teachers from my childhood. Who inspired me to choose this profession? Well… I have two boys whom I love more than anything in the world. They are students in the 21st century.
